Spoonful of Sugar - Swirls

I was rather surprised and pleased to receive an email from Caryn a few weeks ago asking if I would be willing to create this week's guest designer card for the challenge. Here's my effort. I haven't made anything like it recently - it reminds me of the cards I used to make when I first started cardmaking before I discovered scrapbook papers. I used to use quite a lot of mirri paper and vellum and often used to colour my stamped images with Pearlex so this is a kind of "back to my roots" card for me :).

The vellum, butterfly and gems are all by Papermania. The swirl stamp is from a Stampendous set. I've partially stamped it twice in silver ink and then used a silver gel pen to add bits. TFL hoping to catch up with all your blogs soon.

I really like this card Julie - i see exactly what you mean about going back to your roots! While I love following sketches and layering, every so often I need to make a simple card that I can call my own. This card really caught my eye and I love the bling!

Julie your card is just beautiful. The rest of the DT all thought you were a great choice for GDT and you didn't disappoint!! I shiver when I think of the naff stuff I used to churn out when I first started but I guess we all grow in different directions and learn so much from other people around us - especially in blogland!!

Hugs,
Caryn xxx

Really beautiful Julie, that butterfly is so pretty and I love the swirl and sparkles. It's very refreshing actually to see a card without a coloured character image, it's very elegant. Chris x

Love what you've done with this. I've had this stamp for ages and really struggling with what to do with it. Like the crystals too, nice bit of bling.
